CBP officers seized an AK-47-style rifle and magazine headed for Mexico. The items were found during an outbound inspection at the Hidalgo International Bridge. During the inspection, the 23-year-old driver tried running toward Mexico, but authorities quickly caught him.
A 30-year-old is accused of assaulting someone with a baton and then returning to the victim’s home with a gun and firing several shots. The crime happened Monday. Weslaco police arrested the suspect yesterday. He was charged with aggravated assault and deadly conduct. He’s now in the Hidalgo County jail.
Police say a 10th grader at Lopez High School took a gun with blanks to school. The gun was found in his vehicle. We have crews on the scene gathering more details.
